OUR LADY OF SNOWS – INT TRICHY PROVINCE
VIDES of Our Lady of Snows – INT Trichy Province had been busy in hub of activities during the year 2023-2024. This report briefs the activities carried out across the eleven Vides units of Our Lady of Snows Province during the year 2023-2024.

Sr. Devaraj Jeyarani welcomed the Local Coordinators in M.Saveriarpuram on the first day morning and took them for a field visit to have hands-on experience of uppalam to know how the salt is cultivated and interact with the workers and the struggles they undergo.
The meeting started at 9.30 a.m. with a photo session. Sr. Sampooranam introduced Sr. Devaraj Jeyarani with ponnadai as she assumed office of the new Province VIDES Co-ordinator. Then Sr. Susai Antonia welcomed the resource person Fr. Vincent SDB with ponnadai as he is celebrating the Golden Jubilee of his religious profession. Sr. Rosy, Animator of Therespuram welcomed every one. Rev. Fr. Vincent SDB gave the introductory talk on VIDES in two aspects: one is under religious perspective how our charism is carried out in the present system; another one in human rights perspective that is secular culture.
The Vision and mission is focused on children/women and those who do the service have the responsibility to bring up the youth by giving proper formation to carry out the service. He explained different rights – civil and political rights, economical and social rights, and educational rights to learn.
It’s very important to give formation for the young people and take care of common good.
Sr. Selvi presented her views through online talk explaining the XII international VIDES congress focused on “Vides culture of Reciprocity foundation of the common home young protagonists of Change”– Plan and Project. Key principles she explained were: Listening, Integral Ecology, Form and form self to gather and the plans for next 3 years. She also explained and suggested to encourage Junior Vides who are interested in Volunteer services,
the challenges of the world, the commitment what we have to do and our response to reality of what is happening in the world and participate to voice out; that is very important for the Vides members and we should give formation to our VIDES members
based on these points. All Vides units must be focus completely on these points and render.
We young VIDES and FMA Delegates are committed to contribute to the realization of the programmatic guidelines of CGFMA XXIV of the FMA acting as bearers of joy and hope for the most vulnerable and contributing each according to their specific characteristics, to the realization of the commitments under taken with particular attention to integral ecology and the formation of the volunteers all together as a expression and testimony for the culture of reciprocity.
After that session all the participants attended Mass at Our Lady of Snow Church. At 2.00 p.m. the second session on ‘Plan and Project for the year 2023- 2024’ was discussed. Each participant contributed very well during the session. Then Sr.Devaraj Jeyarani explained the responsibilities of Vides co-ordinators in their unit. Sr.Sampooranam explained in detail the documentation of Vides
meetings and activities in each unit. The members thanked Sr. Sampooranam for her service as a Province VIDES coordinator for the past 6 years and she was appreciated with a ponnadai. At the end Sr. Devaraj Jeyarani gave a book in Tamil “A Child Near Window” and a rosary to every participant as token of love and appreciation. Meeting came to an end with a short prayer.

VIDES General Body Meeting took place in Arunodhaya, Puliadithammam on 14, , 15 October Around 48 VIDES members, coordinators and sisters were present for the camp fire at 7 p.m on 2023
14.10.2023. Sr. Rayan.M.Auxilia Sophia lit the fire, and the Vides
members of Regunathapuram conducted introductory fun games.
Therespuram VIDES unit animated creative games to stir up the
gathering. Vadakku Paganoor VIDES members performed a rhythmic dance. The day ended with the Good night message by Sr. Susai Anthonia on ‘Call to Serve’.
Being Sunday, the next morning there was a solemn mass by Rev.Fr. Susai SDB, Rector of Bosco Maiyyam, Pallithammam. He insisted the gathering to be available to do God’s mission in our own ways. The first session began at 09.00 a.m. with a short prayer and welcome.
There was an election for selecting the office bearers of VIDES General Body at the Province Level. Mr. Pethuru of Therespuram Unit was elected as the President, Mrs. Porgia Rani of Marianathapuram Unit as the Secretary, Mr. Soosai of Regunathapuram Unit as the Treasurer and three Councillors were also chosen. The old office bearers were thanked and the new members were welcomed.
Sr. Ayunthukayam Arockia Malar Jothi, was the resource person of the day. In her initial talk she fired the gathering with her motivational words on Self Formation, Volunteerism and the Expectation of the Salesian Family form VIDES members. After the coffee break the session was on the seven goals of Laudato Si and its Sr.Malar Jothi Speaks implications.
After lunch Rev. Sr. Jeyarani, the Province Coordinator briefed on a) To create Junior Vides in each unit b) Different ways to raise fund for Vides activities. Then all the members were divided in groups for discussions on the contribution of VIDES in serving the challenges of the times and responding to Laudato Sr.Jeyarani Initiates Group Discussion Si initiated by Rev. Sr. Jeyarani with the following questions
for the discussion: A) What are the Problems & Challenges
prevailing in the Society now? How VIDES can help to find solution for them? B) What are the problems faced by the Elders and Youth in your area? How VIDES can find solution for them? VIDES Groups came out with creative ideas and suggestions which was discussed in the General Assembly. Resolving to be more active and authentic in their service to the society and the Salesian Family, the meeting was concluded at 04.00 p.m. with a short prayer.

Vides-Chennai Zone Meeting was held at Arch Bishop Louis Mathyas Illam on 12.01.2024 at 4.30 p.m. Rev.Sr.Selvarani the Superior of the house welcomed all the members. Sr. Azarias Arockia Mary Selvi, The Provincial Counsellor delivered orientation talk emphasizing the expectations of Salesians from Vides members and on Laudato Si.
Rev.Sr. Devaraj Jeyarani, the Vides Province co-ordinator briefed the guidelines for various activities of Vides, appreciated and encouraged all the members for the activities carried out. Then the responsibilities of Vides members for the upcoming Auxistem Robotics League-2024 like receiving and guiding students to respective places, Registration and serving food for the participants were discussed. At the end the meeting concluded with a short prayer
INT – VIDES – SOUTH ZONE MEETING
The Vides-South Zone meeting was held on 18.02.2024 at Vadakku Paganoor. 45 members from all the 11 Vides units participated in the meeting. The meeting commenced at 9.30 a.m. The Vides coordinator of Puliadithammam welcomed all the members. Sr.Santhana Pushpa Jeya in her key-note address enlightened everyone insisting
Don Bosco Spirit of accomplishing more through community working together for a better society and the Salesian essence of volunteerism. She also insisted to preserve Salesian as well as Marian identity. The Resource person Mrs. Deepa Manickam, Assistant Professor, Tamilnadu National Law University, Trichy spoke on the topic “A Capitualization of Artificial Intelligence Technologies in the sphere of Law
– Achieving Human Values, Justice & Peace”. She enlightened on how Artificial Intelligence has come to stay, and how to handle it to build peace and harmony with a help of power point presentation.
Sr.Amalorpavanathan Premila Ruby Speaks
Sr. Amalorpavanathan Premila Ruby explained the strenna of the year “The dream that makes you to dream” in her talk. She said that the two hundredth year of Don Bosco, his dream to help others to be realized by everyone with the help of Mary our Mother. All her visuals helped everyone to dream big and helped to grow our faith in God.

Challenges Faced:
- Many meetings are held at different places; the travelling expenses are to be borne by the member or by the institution.
- Many of the members are married and working people, hence they find difficult to come for the meetings though they are willing.
- Many of the Local co-ordinators have many responsibilities in their institution and hence it is very difficult to gather them for the meetings.
- It is found that many Vides members are not formed/trained to take-up the responsibility by themselves instead they depend on sisters.
CHARITY & CONTRIBUTIONS FROM VIDES TOWARDS VICTIMS OF MANIPUR STATE
VIDES PARTICIPATION TOWARDS FLOOD RELIEF
Tamil Nadu had battled heavy rainfall throughout December. In early December many parts of Chennai city and its neighbourhood experienced massive flooding because of Cyclone Michaung.
The Chennai district received close to 400 mm of average rainfall in two days — between the 24-hour period ending at 8.30 am on 4th December and the 24-hour period ending at 8.30 am on 5th December. Our VIDES member Mr.Abu reached out places and distributed 3200 packets rice (5kg) to the affected areas.Similarly in the middle of December the southern districts of Tamil Nadu specially Tuticorin district received very heavy rain fall in 24 hours and was fully flooded. Vides members extended their helping hand to the people affected by the heavy flood.For VIDES contribution for flood relief collected 25 Thousand rupees to by the Rice and Provisions and distributed to Rajivnagar and Nesemany Nagar
